Apple Answers to iPhone 4’s Antenna Issue
This morning, in Cupertino, California, during a last minute press conference, Apple Steve Jobs took the stage to address the much discussed antenna issue on the latest Apple iPhone 4.
Steve Jobs, starting out with his usual style with announcement of sale figure reaching 3 million units after 3 weeks. He went on to state that the antenna attenuation is observed when holding the phone in areas with poor reception is an industry wide challenge. Apple, however recognizes that a small batch of iPhone 4 might have experienced abnormal bad reception.
Statistics obtained by AT&T shows less than 1 additional drop calls per 100 calls when compared with the 3GS (AT&T number). The return rate is averaging at .55% (over half of 1%) due to non satisfaction, which is 1/3 of the return rate of the iPhone 3GS.
To address the issue, Apple has decided to offer free bumper case to all the existing and future iPhone 4 customers through end of September. This end date might indicate that Apple has something in the work to address permanently the issue.
Existing customers who already purchased the bumper case will get full refund, for others iPhone 4 owners, a registration process on Apple Web site will start next week to claim the free case to mail to their home..
Starting August, Apple will release the new iPhone 4 to 17 more countries and the white version will be available as well…

Wish Apple a best luck
