Easy Fix For Sluggish Performance of iOS4 on iPhone 3G and 3GS (Your Mileage May Vary!)

image Apple iOS 4 introduces multi-tasking and other goodies, that might be all goodness if you have the latest hardware. For older and slower generations, iOS 4 could make the device performance sluggish. Unfortunately once upgraded, Apple does not give the option to go back.

If you feel that is what happen  to you, here is a fix for you: a Neowin reader gave a an easy way to fix it and get your speed back..

Go to: Settings – General – Spotlight Search – deselect every option” and this will stop background indexing on the phone.

You should see immediate reaction.

this will not help. Only thing helps is downgrade to 3.1.3 cnet has tutorial you have to download 3.1.3 and utility called irebot or sth to get rid of USB error

I am sure this is a hit and miss, but it seems to do the trick when I tried on a 3GS.. hacks like this remind me of the old WinMo days..

Also works on iPod Touch. iOS4 slowed it down to snail pace. This quick fix did the job of bringing it back up to speed. And I find it terrible that Apple won’t allow downgrading to an older OS when they know how many people are suffering with iOS4 on older devices (that Apple said were compatible!!)
