TellMe Speech Recognition Integration into Windows Phone 7
TellMe, a mobile voice recognition technology, acquired by Microsoft in 2007, TellMe was created by Mike McCue, who happens to be in the news last week with his sensational Flipboard app for the Apple iPad. Microsoft uses TellMe technology in other application such the Ford Sync, the voice recognition for automobile.
In the upcoming Windows Phone 7, TellMe will be the voice recognition engine of the platform moving forward. this integration allows simple press & hold (AKA long press) the start key to access the voice interface. Once activate, user can issue voice command to place call, perform search, initiate app, etc..…
The below video shows an example of the speech recognition integration.. This technology uses the largest cloud-based speech platform for near real-time recognition and enhanced accuracy.
What is missing here, when comparing to Android OS is the ability to replace the keyboard with voice input data for almost all the tasks.
