Rumors: Apple to Add FaceTime Video Chat on Next iPod Touch
In few weeks Apple will have hold event to announce its new iPod lines in preparation for back-to-school and holiday shopping season.
It is widely reported that the new generation iPod Touch would feature a front (and back?) facing cameras.
MacRumors further reported the new beta version of iOS 4.1 brings in email address FaceTime calling (in addition of phone # calling support on the iPhone 4). FaceTime is Apple video chat app over WiFi, one of the most touted features of the new iPhone 4. Since the iPod does not have the phone capability, speculation that the device allows making call over WiFi with the email address seems plausible.
Earlier this week, an exploitation of a security hole of reading a pdf file on the current mobile Safari browser allows hackers to offer an easy way to jailbreak the iPhone 4. Upon completion, user could use FaceTime over 3G network. We expect that Apple will patch that hole in the new iOS.
