Bloomberg: Facebook Said to Be Working on Phones With INQ for AT&T
In the first half of 2011, Facebook is expected to introduce two Android-based smartphones manufactured by INQ Mobile Ltd, the devices could appear on AT&T network, according to sources from Bloomberg.
About 100 million Facebook users update and checking their status regularly using mobile devices and Facebook mobile has been ranked as the most popular app across all mobile platforms.
“We’ve been working with INQ for a couple of years now to help them build a deeply integrated Facebook experience on their devices,” Palo Alto, California-based Facebook said in an e- mailed statement. “While we can’t speak for their future product development plans, we can say that our view is that almost all experiences would be better if they were social.”
INQ has previously sold phones with Facebook features, mostly in emerging markets. (shown in photo above)
One of the two touch-screen Facebook smartphones will feature a QWERTY keyboard. Both will debut first in Europe and might carry a sub-$100 price tag
