Samsung To Launch Galaxy Tab In U.S. Next Week
Samsung has cut deals with all US cellphone carriers with exception of T-Mobile to carry its new 7” Android powered tablet computer, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, according to sources of the WSJ. The company is scheduled to unveil the Galaxy Tab in the U.S. market at an event at New York City’s Time Warner Center on Sep. 16.
The Galaxy Tab features a Samsung in-house developed processor, Android 2.2 operating system, 7-inch touch-screen display, front facing and back cameras; 3G, WiFi connectivity.
The distribution deals with the three largest U.S. wireless operators: Verizon Wireless, Sprint and AT&T mark a significant win for Samsung. Samsung product executive Hankil Yoon said in an interview that the Galaxy Tab would likely retail for between $200 and $300 with carrier subsidies.
