USB Disk App for iPad
Granted, you can use iTunes to sync files, photos, music, video, PDF, etc.. files to the iPad, but each type of file has to sync with different methods and landed to different apps.
If you have a set of files that you want to quickly and simply copy to the iPad to carry with you, (similar to put files on an USB stick) and to be able to view or play back later on your iPad. You will find this app is a very convenient tool. Files can be in popular formats as shown below:
- PDF files.
- MS Office documents.
- iWork documents.
- Pictures (jpg, png, gif, …).
- eBooks (pdf, html, txt, …).
- Audio files (mp3, m4a, wav, …).
- Video files (m4v, mov, some avi, …).
USB Disk lets you do that painlessly and intuitively. You can download the app via the iTunes app store, connect your iPad via USB to your iTunes desktop, select the iPad on iTunes left sidebar, go to the app tab, select USB Disk, drag & drop files in the box on the right.
iTunes will speedily transfer those files to your iPad. Did you notice the files types above? some of them are not natively supported by Apple, but USB Disk app will let you view them or playback slideshow, music, etc..
Due to iTunes limitation, you can only drag files, not the folder. However, on the iPad, the app lets you create folders and use cut / paste to move files to the folder for better file organization.
You can alternatively email files to your email account as attachments and save them as shown below
In the Mail app:
- Open a mail with an attachment.
- Keep your finger pressed on the attachment till a popup appears.
- If USB Disk is not in the list, press "Open in…".
- Select USB Disk.
