Apple marks a milestone today with the unification of code running across Apple mobile platforms including the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad with the latest version of its iOS 4.2
The iPad will catch-up features existed in 4.0 such Game Center, Folder, Multi-tasking, unified inbox view that iPhone and iPod Touch users have enjoyed last few months. While all devices will have the new AirPlay to stream media to the new Apple TV and AirPrint. The iPhone apparently will get the Find My iPhone* to track lost iPhone and remote lock or wipe the contents. The feature previously available with a paid subscription MobileMe.
The update should be available for all users sometime this morning.
iOS 4.2 is compatible with iPad, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, second and third generation iPod touch (late 2009 models with 32GB or 64GB) and new iPod touch. Some features may not be available on all products. For example, Multitasking requires iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, third generation iPod touch (late 2009 models with 32GB or 64GB) or later. iTunes 10.1 is required.
*The free Find My iPhone feature is available for iPhone 4, iPad or new iPod touch (4th generation).
