Gowalla 3.0 With Facebook Places and Foursquare Check-in Integration
The future of commerce is still betting on locality with the on-going attempt of acquisition of Groupon, LivingSocial , etc. by big Internet companies. At the same time the Social phenomenon seems to be the force behind to further fuel the new way of marketing. Foursquare, Gowalla, Facebook Places, Firefly… are among the pioneers to pave the way.
This week Gowalla took a leapfrog step to release an update to its iPhone app with a daring feature to integrate competing technologies namely Foursquare and Facebook Places along with Twitter and Tumblr .
With version 3.0, Gowalla allows user interaction such "Notes", "Highlights" and "Bookmarks" creation in addition with adding photos & comments at each check-in. User can now check-in to several services at once as well as pulling in from other location services..
Gowalla 3.0 is available for iPhone and iPad. Versions for other platforms (Android, Blackberry)will be available shortly.
