LG & Vizio Are Introducing Another Standard for 3D TV
After the active shutter technology that we’ve seen on most flat screen 3D TV sets this year. We should expect 2 more innovative standards, which are the glass-free 3D from Toshiba and the upcoming passive 3D from LG.
LG is expected to unveil at CES a new TV set, the LG LW6500 featuring the company new 3DTM technology, which still requires viewers to wear glasses, but these glasses are simpler, lighter, cheaper and battery-free.
The TV unit has a film-type patterned retarder (FPR) panel, which provides flicker-free 3D effect image.
The technology is known for not inducing fatigue when compared to current active shutter glasses.
In addition, the unit is DNLA compatible and it has app capability built-in, the LG LW6500 boast access to apps such Hulu, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, etc..
LG will not be the only one that is using the passive 3D technology, The Irvine company, Vizio also announced the 65” Class Theater 3D Edge Lit Ravor LED LCD HDTV, which is WiFi and App store enabled and will be available at Costco or Sam’s Club for around $3,500.
