Nintendo 3DS Got Official Launch Date and Price
In a press event that took place today, Nintendo unveils price, availability and technical capabilities of its upcoming portable game device, the Nintendo 3DS.
After a very long pause since its runaway success of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii, the company is betting the new offering with new media capabilities and especially the 3D display that does not require users to wear glasses to enjoy the emerging game play experience.
As Apple is invading its turf with more and more games on its iPod and iPhone. Nintendo will response with a series of enhancements including the new online store, called the eShop that sells games, apps online; 3 cameras; gyroscope; WiFi and location-based feature allowing receiving geo-specific contents from Nintendo or detecting other 3DS players located nearby. The handheld device can also playback music and video contents.
The 3DS will be available in the U.S. starting March 27 for $250. Nintendo offers in Cosmo Black or Aqua Blue color.
