Facebook-Centric Phones By HTC Showing Up in Photos
Late Monday evening, photos of two new HTC smartphones sporting a Facebook like button at the bottom, showed up on PocketNow web site.
Last week INQ showed off a similar integration with its phone.
HTC is a Taiwanese phone manufacturer that has had strong tie with Microsoft mobile operating system and more recently with Google Android operating system.
A 2.6” display device and a frontal QWERTY keyboard and a full touchscreen device are rumored to be equipped with a Facebook hardware button, which allows quick interaction to the Social Networking. User only needs to log-in once and subsequent use of Facebook either accessing its service or via third party app will not require to re-enter the credential. When user are reading a Web page in the browser or looking for a map in Google Map app, they can push the Facebook button to share in the Facebook profile. When calling or receiving a call from Facebook friends, the UI displays friends’ latest status and photos and alerts you if their birthday is coming up. The home screen will have a layer of UI that populates with status updates, messages from friends, etc. a la Windows Phone 7. The Facebook-centric devices will be streaming updates, media from the Internet and will have minimal local storage,
Henri Moissinac, Facebook’s head of mobile business, said: "Mobile now is a top priority for the company. We believe every phone will become social, right from the moment you open the box."
The OS will be a special version of Android 2.7 for Smartphone, a bridge release before Google unifies the 3.0 Honeycomb for both tablet and smartphone.
