WebOS Tablet Announced: HP TouchPad
In an event in San Francisco on Wednesday Feb 9th, Hewlett Packard announced its first WebOS based tablet, the TouchPad and 2 smartphones, the Veer and Pre3. The announcement drew applause from the audience reminiscent of Palm’s first announcement of its WebOS.
The TouchPad, a 9.7” tablet, comes in 16GB or 32GB storage (similar to the Apple iPad), in addition, the device will have 1.3MP camera and powered by a dual core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor. Gyro, accelerometer, compass, Bluetooth are on board. The WiFi version will be available first in summer and the 3G/4G will follow shortly after. An optional dock/stand provide wireless charging to the unit will be available.
The new WebOS promises to support multitasking and Adobe Flash and allows seamless integration with WebOS based smartphones and HP printers.
