Facebook Plans to Offer Local Daily Discount Deals
Facebook, the most visited Web site with over 500 millions users, is launching its new service to promote local discount offers similar to Groupon, LivingSocial, etc..
Bloomberg reports the service will be launched first in San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Atlanta, and Austin.
“Local businesses will be able to sign up to use this feature soon, and people will be able to find Deals in the coming weeks,” Facebook said in the statement.
In recent weeks, along with Warner Brothers studios, Facebook started a trial program to let its members rent a movie and pay with Facebook currency equivalent of $3. Facebook reportedly also was holding talk with the VoIP Skype for possible Web video calls.
The monetization possibilities are endless considering the enormous traffic and the duration of time users visit the site.
From Bloomberg
“The company announced in January that it raised $1.5 billion from investors led by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., placing a $50 billion valuation on the closely held business. Facebook has seen revenue soar as its user base grows and it attracts advertisers such as Starbucks Corp. and JetBlue Airways Corp. The company may have reached $2 billion in sales last year, three people familiar with the matter said in December.”
Things are looking up for an IPO!
