The feature currently supports books & DVDs, landmarks, barcodes & QR codes, logos, contact info, artwork, businesses, products, or text and it even can help you to solve Sudoku game .. But we told you that the capability could extent to facial recognition. Google already has that capability in its photo app Picasa.

Today CNN reports that the giant search is working on such project according  to  its source. The privacy is guaranteed by user checking a box agreeing to give Google permission to access their pictures and profile information, said Hartmut Neven, the Google engineering director for image-recognition development. Information can be available through Google’s Profiles.

"We recognize that Google has to be extra careful when it comes to these [privacy] issues," Neven told CNN in an exclusive interview. "Face recognition we will bring out once we have acceptable privacy models in place."

Google acquired Like.com in 2009, the company is specialized in interpreting pictures of people. Google also filed for patent in this area.

While the privacy will raise many eyebrows, the feature can be incredibly useful in many areas such transport security, gaming (a la kinect), automobile.

The feature would solve embarrassing senior moment problem. Imagine, wearing a small camera on your neck to a trade show and a Bluetooth headset that will tell you the name of the person you see in front of you!

Google denied the availability of this app until all privacy concerned have been addressed.
