Microsoft Showcases Windows Phone 7 Playing Along with Kinect Xbox 360 (Video)
Microsoft is showing off some possibilities to tie its mobile platform to the popular Kinect for Xbox 360. Kinect is a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller.
Windows Phone 7 already has the built-in game hub, which allows users to extend their gaming experience across smartphone, computer, and Xbox console, Uesrs can either play games alone or with friends in turn-based multiplayer gaming. So make the connection with Kinect, which is the fastest selling electronic device, seems to be a logical roadmap to lift the smartphone platform.
The the below video, you will see up to players using their Windows Phone 7 to play along with another player in front of the Kinect Xbox 360.
Don’t get too excited yet, according to Greg Sullivan senior product manager for Windows Phone 7:
"That’s not a product announcement or end-of-year feature. That is real code, something we’re able to accomplish in the labs, but not a 2011 deliverable thing. We’ve got big ideas how we can tie these things together."
