N9, The Last Standing MeeGo Smartphone from Nokia (Video)

Today Nokia introduced the N9, an all touch-screen smartphone with “Swipe” User Interface based on MeeGo OS. imageDespite Nokia future smartphone direction will shift to Windows Phone OS, the Nokia N9, will probably be the last one, is running MeeGo, a mobile version of Linux, previously chosen by the Finnish giant.  

Nokia N9 is aiming  to maintain company experimental development work on the platform.

The buttonless device N9 features a full curved screen, especially designed for one-hand use.  Users can easily swipe between a notification window, a start screen and a window with open applications. The device is said that it can run applications written for QT environment. The N9 built is no different than the previous smartphone, a very robust uni-casing polycarbonate, a material offers the best antenna performance as claimed by Nokia.

The N9 sports a Near Field Communications (NFC) chip for mobile payment and an easy way to pair Bluetooth accessories just by touching them with the phone.

The N9 will be released later this year along with at least another Windows Phone OS smartphone.
