Facebook Debuts Messenger Mobile App (iOS & Android)
Facebook today released a messenger dedicated app for iPhone and Android. The app is born out of the recent acquisition of Beluga, a group messaging start-up.
The stand-alone Facebook messenger app allows Facebook members to exchange text messages, photo, on their phone as part of Facebook’s messaging system. Group messaging is allowed as well. The messages will show up in the app and on Facebook user messaging center
The reason that the FB messenger is separate, perhaps due to the fact that Facebook is about refreshing its mobile app. With Google Hurdle, the upcoming Apple iMessage along with RIM BBM, Skype,..Facebook might feel the urge to jump in to the messaging bandwagon.
You can download the app from iTunes App store or Android Marketplace.
