Google’s Photovine, a New Photo Social Network?
Update: Photovine has been released to general public today
Slide, a Google company has quietly launched a new photo sharing service called Photovine. The service is shown on its Web site as well as an app in Apple App store. However users need to request an invite to participate, below is the reply from the team:
Thanks for your interest in Photovine!/ We’ve received your email and added it to our wait list. We’ll be slowly rolling-out invites starting later this month. We’re very excited about Photovine and can’t wait for you to join us!
Thanks again for signing up and for your patience while we distribute invites.
Photovine, essentially, allows users to take a photo and starts plating a “vine”, share it in real-time with other friends and at their turn, sharing their own photos within that theme and grow the “vine” that way, as shown in the official promotional video.
It is unclear if the mobile app will make to Android marketplace, and what is the relationship between this service and the new Google+ social network. Google brand name is totally absent on Photovine service.
