iPads Getting More Traffic than iPhones.
When the iPad was first introduced, it seemed like it would be an accompaniment to iPhone and desktop browsing habits. With its ultra-sleek design and easy-to-navigate interface, the device seemed like more of a novelty than a serious threat to traditional browsing methods. The iPhone was perfect for mobile browsing habits and the desktop was a place to get serious work finished.
According to comScore, the iPad now drives more traffic than its sibling the iPhone. The iPad is generating about 46 percent of all mobile iOS traffic while the iPhone is only generating a little over 42 percent. With the iPhone being one of the most popular phones on the market, and the iPad just starting to take its share of early adapters, there is no doubt that this trend will keep growing within the next couple of years. Here are some reasons why the iPad browsing trend will continue to expand:
New Facebook App
On October 11th, Facebook released their new app for the iPad. It came with their new timeline profile, which emphasizes a deeper reliance on images. The iPad is the perfect device for viewing these images, commenting on them, and sharing. Alongside the powerful computer applications the device is capable of, it is now a makeshift portable digital picture frame.
Increased Wi-Fi Connections
Everywhere you turn, there is a Wi-Fi hotspot. There are so many Wi-Fi hotspots that any business establishment that does not have one might get snubbed by customers looking to browse on their device while they are eating or shopping. Browsing the Internet and checking social media in public is now a common activity. This is also a great thing for advertisers because tablet users will more likely click on ads placed by a PPC agency because of the larger space and more engaging features tablets allow.
Streaming Media Services
If you have a subscription to Netflix, watch a lot of YouTube videos, or use a mobile device to consume most of your television and movies, the iPad is the clear winner over the iPhone. With its large screen size and high quality digital output, the iPad is the ultimate device for watching content on the go. Instead of watching on a small iPhone screen, iPad users have a deeper experience.
Siri
With the introduction of the new Siri application for the iPhone 4s, the Safari browser will become an irrelevant feature for smartphone users. Siri will perform all actions for users by using voice activation which will allow them to use other devices for browsing.
Apple has created a brilliant marketing strategy for selling their devices. Instead of lumping one use out of both the iPad and iPhone, they are trying to give distinct characteristics and functions that are unique to both. An increase in browsing on the iPad will also mean a sharp increase in future sales. This trend will continue to grow until Apple comes out with their latest device.
