RIM Offers Free App to Outage Victims
Last week, due to a hardware glitch in Europe, Blackberry users suffered messaging disruption in a ripple effect across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and finally spread to North America.
In a recovery public relation effort, RIM Co-CEO offered his apologies on behalf of his company on YouTube and this morning, RIM is going further by announcing that the company will offer several premium apps at no charge to its users starting this Wednesday and the free offer is expected to last to the end of 2011.
The free apps include: SIMS 3, Bejeweled, N.O.V.A., Texas Hold’em Poker 2, Bubble Bash 2, Photo Editor Ultimate, DriveSafe.ly Pro, iSpeech Translator Pro, Drive Safe.ly Enterprise, Nobex Radio Premium, Shazam Encore, andVlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant.
Enterprise customers, meanwhile, will get one free month of technical support. Those who already subscribe to the service will get an additional month added to their contracts at no charge. More details will be available at www.blackberry.com/enterpriseoffer.
"We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience," RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said in a statement. "We have apologized to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again."
