NPR Released Music App for iPad
National Public Radio has already an excellent iPad app offering many audio programs in three categories News, Art & Life and Music.
Today NPR branched out the Music part with it own dedicated app called NPR Music, which features streaming audio, albums, studio and Live concerts.
The public network is aiming to broaden its 26 million listeners to new platform, considering young audience is no longer owning a radio beside the one in car.
"We would be crazy not to be thinking about what happens if [radio] were to decline," she says. "People in their early 20s don’t usually own radios. Our core competency at NPR is audio–and that can transform to multiple platforms." says NPR Music’s Anya Grundmann
NPR Music allows users to stream from many public radio stations; editorial content that includes music news, interviews, and reviews; custom playlists that can be downloaded. The contents are very rich but the UI might take time to get used to.
The app is available for free in the Apple App Store.
