AroundMe, one of the most popular free apps on iOS, Android and Windows Phone for its simplicity and its usefulness. The app simply uses the smartphone GPS to help you to locate surrounding point of interests and businesses.

Granted, many GPS apps provide similar functionality, AroundMe can provide a level of intuitiveness that become quickly your second nature, especially when you are in unfamiliar places.

After you fired up the app, you are immediate presented with a list of usual POI’s to pick. Note the app adds some informative items on the selection list such Movie showing full directors and schedule times; Local weather, an added bonus.

Selecting an item to look for, will show a list of locations sorted by distance. You can either select the location next or from here you can explore some nifty features by clicking the top right icon, which lets you choose the view modes including List, Map (with Standard, Satellite and Hybrid), Live View with Augmented Reality).


Let’s assume, you select the location you like. The next screen shows the map; phone number, menu (for restaurant, bar) and photos, tips from FourSquare community. Each business category provides pertinent information such gas price at each Gas station; room rate at each hotel,…

A small icon located under the map will invoke either Scout by Telenav or the native iOS Maps app for turn-by-turn directions.

AroundMe app is available in over 200 countries and 19,000 cities across the globe, with 25 million monthly searches from its 6 million-strong user base. The app offers an app supported free version and a paid version.

    I just looked at your app in my area & clicked coffee & it showed a coffee shop up the street as perc section & it’s named percfection a play on perfection. It’s on Spring street in jeffersonville indiana Thanks
