For this Christmas, Nintendo Wii U will be the only new game console available. The new  Wii U will be available on November 18th in North America. The offering consists of a game console to connect to your TV and a GamePad, equipped with touch screen.

The GamePad is acting as remote control and second screen for game play. The GamePad is featuring a 6.2-inch touchscreen, equipped with thumbsticks on both sides, a camera on top and an assortment of game buttons.

The game console features much graphics enhancements with HDMI output. The Nintendo Wii U will come in two configurations:


The Basic set comes in white, it will have 8GB of memory and includes the console, a GamePad, an AC adapter for each, HDMI cable, a Wii U sensor bar and . The basic set will be $299.99 in the United States.

For additional $50, users can get the Deluxe set, which comes in black dress. The set has everything from the basic set; a total of  32GB of internal memory, plus a GamePad charging cradle, a stand for the GamePad and a stand for the console; a copy of Nintendo Land.

Owners of the Deluxe set can enroll to the Deluxe Digital Promotion, which offers points for future purchases. Those points can then be redeemed for future digital content from Nintendo eShop. Nintendo Wii U will work with the existing Wiimotes, Wii Nunchucks and games.

Nintendo shared few new games for core gamers such Call of Duty Black Ops II,etc.. whie the console is backward compatible with Wii games.

The jury’s still out on the Wii U, although early reviews have been positive for the console. Many reviewers are waiting for TVii to launch in December and to see what more original titles will add to the hardware experience. TVii offers a mix of live TV, TiVo recording and streaming video from Amazon, Hulu and Netflix, and lets you search and browse everything from the GamePad touchscreen controller. TVii will show later in December as a downloadable update.

In addition, Nintendo also announced the Nintendo TVii hub, which will be available for free to North America. Nintendo is positioning the new game console to better compete with Microsoft Xbox for TV content delivery platform. Nintendo TVii partners with Amazon Instant, Hulu Plus, Netflix and limited TV contents.
