Google continues its offering to Gmail users to easily connect with friends and family. If you’re in the US and Canada, you’ll continue to be able to make free domestic calls through 2013.
In order to use the free phone calling, just go HERE to activate the plug-in. Once activated, just go to your Gmail inbox from your browser; click on the chat icon located at at bottom left corner and click on the phone icon.
For outside of US and Canada calling, you will have to pay at inexpensive rate. As you can see on the image above, video chat is available. And if you use Google+, you can even set up a group hangouts.
Furthermore, you can ditch your home phone for Google voice with a small box from Obihai that costs under $40. The solution allows you to use your regular home phone handsets to make or receive free domestic calls and cheap international calls… Below is the video that explains the set-up.
