According to this pre-release demo video shown by Pocket-Lint, Opera is in the final testing stage to launch a new assault on the mobile space with a brand new mobile browser called Opera Ice. The mobile browser will be available in February.
The browser itself is based on WebKit, which is the framework used by many mobile browsers. But the secret sauce is all in the user interface that uses heavily large visual dials, gesture navigation and multi-search engine capability.
The demo video shows the navigation is fairly intuitive, while the differentiators are clearly well defined when compared with traditional browser.
Opera has had another mobile browser call Opera Mini, which is based on the company’s Presto engine. The technology renders and optimizes Web pages before delivering to user device.
