Google today released a new version of Google Maps for iPhone. The version brings essentially two convenient features including search in Google Contacts for destination address and the inclusion of a local business search bar. Users now can choose distance units between based on location, Miles or Kilometers.


If you are using Google Contacts, a drop down option within Gmail. You can now enter in the search box of Google Maps the name of your contact, the app will pull out the address for destination. You need to sign in with your Google credentials in Google Maps to enable this feature.

Just below the search box, a new bar showing icons for nearby restaurants, coffee shops, bars, gas stations, etc..   Taping on the business will reveal further details including street view, directions and navigation instructions to it.

The other settings can be done by clicking the top right icon with a man figure.
