Acer introduces an convertible Windows 8 laptop tablet called the Aspire R7. The 15.6” machine can go from a traditional clamshell to a touch based laptop with the screen flips up to get closer to your fingers, it can go back to show screen content to the person in front of you and the screen finally can fold all the way down to tablet form factor. The Aspire R7 can be configured with i5 or i6 Intel CPU, the screen resolution supports 1080p and weights 5.5 lbs.
Acer will begin selling the R7 on May 17 for $1,000. Best Buy stores nationwide will carry a special “Star Trek Into Darkness” version, which will come with a free download of the “Star Trek: The Video Game.” The laptop comes standard with a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080-resolution screen, a Core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM, and a combo 500 GB hard drive with a 24 GB solid-state drive.
