Google Maps on the Web has a new design, and you can test it out by going to http://maps.google.com/preview
The maps shown in full screen with a search bar formatted in a Google Now card format on the top left corner. The small search window has a drop down for search history. You can either enter specific address or what you want to look up, e.g sushi in Boston. The results are marked as small red markers on the maps, click on the any marker shows additional details such Zagat reviews in case of searching for restaurant. A collapsible bar at the bottom of the screen show images related to the location.
Clicking anywhere on the maps will reveal its street address; you can switch to street view anytime in addition to maps view and satellite view.
I tried on both Windows and Mac machine. I found that on Mac using TouchPad, the new design is more user friendly. You can zoom in/out by dragging 2 fingers vertically and drag the map by sliding 3 fingers.
