The device sports a square 320×320 1.63-inch AMOLED touch screen display; the non-interchangeable colorful wristband houses a 1.9MP camera, 2 mics and a small speaker. The 800MHz CPU runs Android OS. The battery lasts about a day.
The display features a number of faceplates to choose from. The touch screen allows swipe gesture as well as tap for navigation and app controls. The 1.9MP camera lets user shoot 720p video and store on the 4GB internal storage. The speaker and mics will let user conduct phone calls using the paired smartphone. Note that only Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition can be paired the the Gear. The rest will come at later date after Android 4.3 is on board to support Bluetooth Low Energy. The watch can be used with voice command.
At launch, the device will have about 70 apps including Pocket, Path, Evernote, RunKeeper, MyFitnessPal and Runtastic Pro, etc..
The Galaxy Gear will be available worldwide from September 25 and will be priced at $299.
