image Today, Apple refreshed its popular tablets with the fifth generation iPad and its diminutive sibling iPad mini. The company follow exactly the annual refresh cycle.

The new iPad earns a new moniker Air, featuring a slimmer, lighter form factor while retaining its 9.7” screen size, thanks to smaller side bezels. The new iPad mini keeps the same design, yet featuring the most anticipated Retina display on the 2048×1536 7.9” at 326 ppi.

Both iPad use the new 64-bit A7 CPU and the motion M7 CPU. The new A7 processor offers up to four times improvements and up to eight time graphics performance over the A6 CPU. Both tablets have 10 hour battery life. The WiFi performance gets a boost using two antennas instead of one and MIMO technology, iPads delivers up to twice the Wi-Fi performance over their predecessors

The iPad Air will cost $499 for the 16GB version when it becomes available in the beginning of November. The iPad mini Retina will be available later in November at starting price of $399. Note the older iPad mini will still be available at lower price of $299 and the iPad 2 (non Retina) will be available at $399.
