At  first glance, version 3.0 of the app shows a grid with videos similar to its previous release, Videos displayed which different sizes relevant by popularity. A quick swipe toward the right reveals a navigation pane to further discover videos by category, Social Network, Twitter hash tags, etc,…Once in the main grid, you will also notice the top bar showing the category you are watching, taping on the bar to conveniently switch to other categories. 

User can select and watch video right on the main screen. Many sharing options are also available while watching the video you have selected.

The video search also got huge improvements to tap in to 30 million video available in Showyou database.

Yahoo is responding to an increasingly habit of viewers using a second screen to watch TV show to make TV watching a more social experience. The app is the result of Yahoo’s acquisition of  IntoNow company earlier this year for an amount of $20 million reportedly.

To date, the solution is considered the most innovative idea from the ailing Internet company to recapture its users, by tapping in to mainstream medias and the vast audience of Facebook, Twitter alike instead of creating its own.

IntoNow also offers its social network if you don’t belong to the Twitter or Facebook, should you want to participate to real-time discussion with other viewers.

Adam Cahan, the founder of IntoNow and now a vice president at Yahoo, explains how it works. If you’re watching a game, for example, the app can serve up stats for the particular teams who are playing, or even for individual players, he says. If you’re watching the news, the app will dig into the Yahoo network’s vast database of content–both original Yahoo content as well as that from its many partners–and serve up related stories to the stories being broadcast. If you’re watching a scripted show, the app can surface the most relevant tweets, including, for example, those from the show’s actors.

"What we’re looking at is: How do you take it to the next level?" Cahan says. "We have all of these devices. They have amazing capabilities and entirely new set of inputs (for us, it’s about audio inputs). So how do we use that signal to bring you more and more relevant experiences that are relevant to the context of what you’re doing."

Video calling to Facebook users
Now you can make video calls with all of your friends on Facebook, even if they aren’t Skype users. To start a video call with a Facebook friend, select the person in your list and click "video call."

Push to Talk
We have introduced a "Push to Talk" feature in Skype. Many people who are playing multiplayer games have requested this feature, which allows users to set a hotkey to toggle microphone muting on a Skype call. You can set the "Push to Talk" up on the hotkey’s selection under tools > options > advanced > hotkeys.

The new update 2.0 brings a brand new look and more functionalities than ever.

From its Dashboard, you can  have one-tap access to create new posts and pages, upload media, view your stats, read blogs and more! There’s also now a comment count ribbon to show you how many comments you have in your moderation queue.

The Action Bar up top allows you to quickly get to other areas of the app as fast as possible. You can tap the blog name to switch blogs, refresh your content, and call up the dashboard from wherever you are in the app at the time.

If you want to create or edit your post, a formatting toolbar has been added that displays above the keyboard as you type, allowing you to easily format text and add links and media. The post editor also goes full screen, giving you as much room as possible to create your posts while on the go.

Media attachments have received an awesome boost as well. You can now insert images among the post text wherever you’d like. Tapping on an image will bring up many new options you can set per image, including Title, Caption, Placement and Size.

Yesterday the popular social network also rolled out its compatible version for iPhone and promised a version for the iPad will be available shortly after. Note that yesterday Facebook also made available a new version for the iPad, but it still does not yet include Timeline support.

Google Currents contains “Library” tab for all the feeds you add or keep the defaults as seen on the home page below. “Trending” tab offers the five most recent trending stories in multiple categories such as world, entertainment and sports.

After testing on the iPhone version, in my opinion it is good but it is not as intuitive as Flipboard. But thanks to iCloud, the same app in iPad version got pushed and installed automatically on my iPad. Evidently, larger screen makes Currents much more enticing.

Google Currents is now available for download in Android Market and the Apple App Store for US users.

With the help of indoor mapping organizations at popular airports and shopping malls as well as business owners who whish to upload their own floor plan (a do-it-yourself site is available), Google is releasing its first app Google Maps 6.0 for Android supporting the new indoor functionality.The service is not yet available for other platforms nor desktop browsing. Users probably mostly use the app for their search, and Google does not disappoint them  with faster more responsive, more interactive from the first keystroke. Google Instant starts to display results at the first keystroke, so often the search button is not even touched beffor you get meaningful results.

Selected result page is opened in a new Chrome-like tab, which is can be swiped horizontally for back and forth navigation purposes.

Image search view now can transform in to more emerging  carousel view, upon clicking on one of the image in search results. The Search history also displays a carousel view of previous web pages  obtained by your search inquiries.

To avoid from being overwhelmed with rich results, after you’ve selected a result, a new tool helps you find exactly what you need within a web page. Tap the magnifying glass on the top right-hand corner to highlight the most relevant section of the page. You can recommend pages you like with the new +1 button, right next to the magnifying glass, and help others find relevant sites more easily as well.
