User basically can just open up the browser and fire it up. To make it more stand-alone app , you can hit the full screen (square blue icon) at top right corner to enjoy the full experience. The site consists of 2 panes, the one on the left shows the selected contents (e.g, video or text) and the smaller one on the right is used as the navigation pane, which allows user to watch the selected content while browsing for other contents. Both panes feature the home icon on top in case you are lost.

After few minutes, I am sure you can understand the interface and navigation with ease. The video playback is smooth with larger screen than viewing on Youtube, Hulu (without blowing to full screen display) .

The top browser preview bar offers tabs such Home,  Basic, Features, etc..The Basic tab features tutorial videos that walk you through several aspects the site offers.

image Microsoft is to sell the standard home-user version of its new Windows 7 operating system for 8 percent less than the comparable version of its Vista system, as the global downturn hits spending on technology.

The new operating system, which Microsoft hopes will be a bigger hit than the poorly received Vista, will be generally released on October 22. It will be available on pre-order from Best Buy Amazon and the company’s own website from Friday.

Microsoft said it will sell the Home Premium upgrade version of Windows 7 — which most non-business customers already using Windows will want — for $49.99 until July 11 in the United States. The discs would be shipped after general release.

After July 11, the pre-order price will be $119.99, 8 percent less than the current $129.99 price tag for the comparable version of Vista, which cost $159.99 at launch in early 2007.

The Professional upgrade version of Windows 7 — aimed at small companies using multiple computers — will be on sale until July 11 at $99.99, then at $199.99 afterwards. The comparable Vista version is the same price.

Prices for the full retail versions of the software — for customers who want to install the system from scratch rather than upgrade their existing Windows system — are also being reduced or held.

Microsoft will sell the full Home Premium version of Windows 7 for $199.99, 17 percent less than the comparable Vista version. Full versions of the more advanced Professional and Ultimate editions will be unchanged at $299.99 and $319.99 respectively.

image Corporate and SMB (Small Medium Business) users have been using traditionally Exchanges or Lotus Notes back-end infrastructure serving calendaring, email, contacts, etc. to the client software Microsoft outlook and Notes.

For large corporation, the back-end infrastructure is costly to maintain but it is is located safely within corporate glass house but smaller companies and workgroups using a cloud infrastructure offered by Google Apps are making more sense at this conjuncture.

Forcing the employees to use a Web-base PIM instead of the familiar Microsoft Outlook sometime could be difficult and counter-productive.

Google today announced a feature that allows Google Apps customers to sync their mail, calendar and contacts directly into Outlook, allowing the users to keep what they love most about Outlook without being tied to the costs of running an Exchange server. The service is avilable for Google Apps Premier or Education Editions.

Key features include:

  • Email, calendar, and contacts synchronization. For email, the plug-in uses the offline Gmail protocol, which is much faster than IMAP or other methods.
  • Free/Busy lookup and Global Address List functionality, which makes it easy to schedule meetings with your colleagues, regardless of whether they use Outlook’s calendar or Google Calendar.
  • A simple, two-click data migration tool which allows employees to easily copy existing data from Exchange or Outlook into Google Apps.

Since the desktop and higher end laptop sale are in decline, all eye are on the new netbook segment, which has been dominated by Microsoft Windows/XP and soon hopefully will be displaced by Windows 7 “starter edition”.

Of course, competition is also looming in this market segment including some variance of Linux, Google Android and Sun/Oracle in the latest announcement delivered by Oracle Chief Executive Larry Ellison.

We really welcome this initiative from Microsoft to take the necessary extra steps reaching out to its potential users for ideas, critics, insights to incorporate to the final product.  Talking About Windows offers IT professionals a candid look into the product decisions made behind Windows 7, as well as genuine insight from the engineers themselves. The site will serve as an entirely new forum for Microsoft to interact with the community and actively join the conversation surrounding Windows 7.  Below are the first videos published on its YouTube channel

The site is looking to hear any opinions, talk candidly, and get real insight from their users on how to make Windows 7 the best experience possible.
