The highly anticipated device is still not available on Verizon Wireless web site yet. However, you can visit Vodafone to view the official specs with their newly published interactive site. YouTube to Add Theater View and Lights Off Options
Google has few Easter eggs on a couple of videos, where you will see the options shown on top of the video called Theater View and Light off.
The light off will dim the surrounding of the video but the Theater view is intriguing with the curtains on left and right side of the screen that has sparked rumor that YouTube is prep’ing for wide screen format.

Smartphone Demographic
This holiday season promises a few answers to the iPhone from Apple’s competitors. So far, the T-Mobile G1, the Blackberry Thunder, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the HTC Touch HD and the Nokia 5800 look like they could be contenders.
Smartphones, with their higher contract prices and upfront costs, tend to attract more affluent consumers. In this economic climate, where consumers may have less disposable income or just be unwilling to spend it, extending that appeal to a larger and already crowded market will be a challenge. Still, the fact that millions of iPhones have been sold since July suggests that a high-end device’s appeal could extend beyond those in the highest income brackets. The $200 price drop and decision to sell the iPhone 3G at Best Buy may have been bids to broaden the device’s appeal, but do they seem to be working?
* Since the iPhone 3G was announced in June, the skew toward $100K+ income-bracket researchers has become less pronounced
* After mirroring the overall handset researcher population at the iPhone 3G’s announcement and launch, shoppers in the $60-100K income bracket were 8% more likely to be researching the iPhone 3G in August
* Even though people in the <$30K and $30-60K income brackets are significantly less likely than most to research iPhone 3G, they have been making up an increasing proportion of the research population since the device was announced
So, although the gaps are narrowing, the iPhone still appeals most to people with incomes over $60K. People may become more price sensitive because of the economy, but iPhone is so popular with consumers any new smartphone hoping to appeal to a large audience would almost have to be priced at or below $199. T-Mobile’s G1 will follow this trend and sell for $179 with a contract. A preferable strategy to reducing price, but probably a tougher one, will be providing consumers with a viable alternative that offers the same or better usability with a different twist. Devices with different form factors like flip phones and combining touchscreens with physical keyboards might help sway some people. The benefits of open-source based operating systems like Android may change minds. But we’ll need to wait until the end of Q4 to find out.
30% of U.S. consumers who purchased Apple?s new iPhone 3G from June through August 2008 switched from other mobile carriers to join AT&T, the exclusive mobile carrier for the iPhone in the U.S. By way of comparison just 23% of consumers, on average, switched carriers between June and August 2008. Nearly half (47%) of new AT&T iPhone customers that switched carriers switched from Verizon Wireless, another 24% switched from T-Mobile, and 19 percent switched from Sprint.
During June through August 2008, the top four best-selling smartphones based on unit-sales to consumers were as follows:
- Apple iPhone 3G
- RIM Blackberry Curve
- RIM Blackberry Pearl
- Palm Centro
Before the launch of the iPhone 3G, iPhone sales represented 11% of the consumer market for smartphones (January through May 2008); however, after the launch of iPhone 3G, Apple commanded 17% of the smartphone market (January through August 2008). The average price of a smartphone sold between June and August 2008 was $174, down 26% from $236 during the same period last year.

LiveStation Streams Live TV to Your Desktop
We covered LiveStation in the past, but the developers just released a new client soft version that no longer requires Microsoft Silverlight; the addition of Mac and Linux support and the whole slew of new TV channel partners.
While there are many ways to watch TV programs on your desktop/laptop such Hulu, Joost, etc..provide great viewing experiences, they are mostly video on demand, meaning pre-recorded shows available for streaming on demand. LiveStation actually streams live video from channels such CNN, CBS, ESPN, Bloomberg, Fox, etc…in full screen without much latency. (Watching News and Sports is great for live streaming).
LiveStation is using a Peer-to-Peer bandwidth distribution mechanism to avoid high cost infrastructure. Therefore you’d need to download the cross platform client software on your desktop. Whether you watch live streaming or not the software is still running in the background to be part of the distribution network. You can however exit out by right mouse click on the system tray icon.
The installation was fast and painless. Quick registration is needed just with an email address and a password. The client includes some default channels but you can search & add additional channels such CNN, BBC, ESPN, Fox, Bloomberg, CBS, etc…The player presents in 2 panes with coverflow style channel selection. Fullscreen viewing is also available with very good quality.

Thoughts Aside: Laptop and camera bags are widely used and provide proper protection for these devices. Apart from camera bags , there is range of other accessories to enhance and protect laptop and cell phone camera . Also if your film camera supports advanced connectivity options, you can attach it directly to the digital projector to enjoy high quality videos on big screen. However you might need software driver available from pda software collection.
