Microsoft Mobile Media Beta Leaked

29 September, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Free Utilities, Mobile Phone, Multimedia, Windows Mobile, Windows PC (5) Comment

image With the recent disappointing announcement of the Windows Mobile 7 delay, don’t think that Microsoft is sleeping. They are building infrastructure for the new OS, essentially the “meshing” your devices for universal access.

image

The latest tool that I have been testing for few weeks is the Mobile Media Beta (works on IE only for PC side interface). MM essentially allows you to quickly and easily access your personal content – pictures, music, and videos – on your personal computer from your mobile phone.

You cannot directly download the content from your PC to your mobile phone. The content you access from your PC is streamed to your phone in real-time. Pictures are streamed as a slideshow, while music and video are streamed to your phone’s Media Player. For pictures, individual small files are saved locally in a temporary storage area (similar to your browser) and you can also save individual small images to the local phone memory. Music and video streams cannot be saved to the phone and are not cached.

With offline photo storage, your photos are also store in the cloud so you can access them from the mobile phone even your home PC is off.

You can have as many as you want on the PC side but only 1 phone in the “mesh ring”

A nice touch here, is if you have a Windows Mobile device, you can take pictures and they will be  automatically and transparently sent pictures to your PC.

To use Mobile Media, you’ll need to download and install client applications on both your PC and Mobile phone. Download them HERE! View the Desktop side HERE!

Skydeck: Search Your Cellphone Calls Like Email Inbox

29 September, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Free Utilities, Mobile Phone (0) Comment

image

With your email inbox, you can store a very large number of messages and  you will be able to go back to search easily. For the cellphone is completely different matter. Most cellphone can only store a limited number of calls, and search back who called you or who you called 4 days ago could be a daunting if not impossible task.

For the first time, Skydeck enables you to search your cell phone calls the way you’ve always been able to search your email. You can check who you spoke to yesterday or last week, see how long it’s been since you last spoke, and make notes about what you need to do next. You’ll never forget an important phone call again.

image Manage your calls and texts the same way that you manage your email. Check who called yesterday, the last time you spoke, and use notes and tags to remind yourself to follow up.

Skydeck’s secure software combines your call records with your address book to map your true social network: the people that you talk to and text every day. Based on how often you communicate, Skydeck re-organizes your address book and your network around the people who are most important to you, and lets you share that network with people you trust.

Skydeck is free to individual consumers and always will be.

The rumor is based on an Android developer approached by a headhunter to join the team. So please take it with a grain of salt.

Not Playing in Netbook Arena Might Hurt Apple?

29 September, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Mac, News (0) Comment

image With the proliferation of the subcompact notebooks or Netbook, Apple still choose not to play in this arena. Today, you can not by any Macbook under $1,000 and this seems to be noticeable by Wall Street.

Apple’s shares fell 17.5 percent in early trading Monday, as brokerage firms scaled back their recommendations to a "hold" from a "buy."

Morgan Stanley not only revised its recommendation for the stock, but also lowered its fiscal 2009 earnings estimate to $5.47 a share from $5.91 a share.

In listing its reasons for its revisions, Morgan Stanley said in a research note:

First, PC unit growth is decelerating and the remaining source of growth is increasingly in the sub-$1,000 market where Apple does not play. Second, even in the best of scenarios, Apple’s earnings per share growth will decelerate meaningfully from June quarter levels. A combination of tough compares (with the previous years figures) and investments in iPhone growth drive our December quarter earnings per share to a decline of 8 percent year over year, down from +29 percent growth June.

The update of new MacBook and MacBook Pro should be around the corner. We will see if Apple could change the outcome.   [Via CBS/News]

Apple TV Might Get an Update on Sept 30th

28 September, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Accessories, Mac, Multimedia, News (0) Comment

TUAW.com reported an alleged unnamed Apple reseller had received some instructions from Apple to remove old Apple TV stuffs on a possible Tuesday Sept 30th Webcast.

“to remove all Apple TV displays and literature and to destroy them (which I assume means throw away the literature, send back the Apple TVs) by September 30, 2008 at 5 PM. Additionally, the e-mail says that there will be a webcast "kick off" on September 30.”

Use Android handset to Charge Your Visa Account

28 September, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Android, News, Symbian (0) Comment

imageIn the not-too-distant future, Visa credit cards may merge with cell phones. The card giant announced Friday that it is developing applications for Google’s Android operating system and upcoming Nokia smart phones. Visa’s Android application will allow the holders of Chase Visa cards to make mobile payments and receive real-time financial information.

In Japan and Europe have been using their phones to buy goods and services for some time. Similar uses in the United States have been slower to catch on, he said, because consumers are not enthusiastic about processing such payments through their telecommunication carriers.

When YouTube Video is too long to get to the Point

28 September, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Multimedia, Tips, WebApp (0) Comment

We indeed live in a fast lane, sharing a quick YouTube punch line might require the recipient to watch from the beginning to certain elapsed time. Splicd has a solution for you.

imageSelect the YouTube video you want. Write down the portion you want to show (e.g. 0:35 to 0:53). Copy and paste the YouTube link/URL to Splicd. Splicd will then provide another link/URL you can use to share.

The link takes you to Splicd site, from there you can play the “Splice” or play the original. Embed of the newly created video does not work.  [Via DownloadSquad]

Thoughts Aside: Laptop and camera bags are widely used and provide proper protection for these devices. Apart from camera bags , there is range of other accessories to enhance and protect laptop and cell phone camera . Also if your film camera supports advanced connectivity options, you can attach it directly to the digital projector to enjoy high quality videos on big screen. However you might need software driver available from pda software collection.
