Microsoft IE8 & Private Browsing
Safari has a neat feature that neither Firefox nor IE have. I am talking about private browsing. Users can normally turn on temporary when they don’t want to divulge the visited sites.
Granted they can delete all the private data. But them all will be erased.
IE8 developer team seems to take this seriously and will implement in the next release of IE8.
Andy Zeigler is the Program Manager of the new Privacy features in IE 8. Dean and Andy shed light onto exactly what’s been done in the realm of Privacy in IE 8 Beta 2. Two core new Privacy mechanisms are present in IE 8: InPrivate Browsing and InPrivate Blocking (with InPrivate Subscriptions, a feed-based blocking service).

Skip Through Automated Phone Prompts
You probably find 99% of the times when you dial to an institution in the US is to speak to a real person. But the process is often very lengthy and frustrating to get you the right person to talk to. All the companies now have automated phone prompts to cut down on operator costs unless it is really justified.
I ran across to this site Dialahuman, which gives you some great convenient shortcut to get to the real human operator.
Bookmark-worthy nevertheless!

ThrottleLock: Pattern Locking Your WM Device
ThrottleLock is a pattern based lock application, fully skinable and with multi-language support. ThrottleLock is a little app to lock your device. It will only be unlocked when a pattern is drawn on a grid of points.
Important:
The default code is to click on the first point (the one on the top left corner).
By default the device will be locked automatically when goes into suspended state. Optionally you can also turn it on by executing the link at Start Menu > Programs > ThrottleLock. If you don’t want the device to automatically lock remove the link placed at \Windows\Startup.
The app is fully skinable. You can change the skin by replacing the png files and modifying the config.xml to change the fonts and colors.
Also the app supports multi-language. Spanish and English translations are included. To translate the app to your language just copy the texts.txt file to a file called texts_XXX.txt where XXX is the 3 chars ISO code for your language and then translate the texts included in that file. Respect the line orders and carriage returns, also take care to keep the UTC16 encoding.

RunKeeper: iPhone App for Runner
Runner fans must already know that there were GPS watches, and there were chips in your shoe like Nike+ working with your iPod to track the workouts. The result of each workout session can then be sync’ed with the computer and uploaded to a Web site for analysis.
All of this cumbersome steps and additional hardware could be greatly simplified with the iPhone, which already has an accelerometer, a GPS feature (3G) and the connectivity.
We already spotted few screenshots of the upcoming similar app, and later there were some rumors about these screenshots are perhaps hoax. But luckily you don’t have to wait for it.
I just received from the developer of a new iPhone app called RunKeeper, which has been released on Apple App store, that runs on your iPhone 3G.
You just need to install the app and register at RunKeeper web site. Launch the app when you start running. The app can let the iPod function working for your music listening pleasure during your workout. Upon completion, your data will be sent to RunKeeper web site directly for analysis.

A Hints of Future Windows Mobile
The Gemini Division, a Science Fiction TV show is produced by NBC gives a hint of what Windows Mobile interface will look like. In the first clip, you will see the lead character, played by actress Rosario Dawson showing the long horizontal Windows Mobile powered device.
We know that Microsoft marketing campaign is cranking up with $300 millions in budget to rekindle its image with more Hollywood product placements and competitive advertisement campaign, which have been fruitful for Apple.
We hope this is a “real” shape of things to come!

Two Wonderful Ways to Explore Flickr Photos
Flickr.com, a Yahoo owned online service offering free and paid photo service hosting. But unlike other hundred others similar services, Flickr offers open source API (Application Program Interface), which means you can enjoy several third party Web apps to front-end to the vast amount of uploaded photos to select what you are looking for. I am showing here two wonderful apps for your viewing pleasure:
TAGgalaxy.com : you can look for tags (a shortname that people give when they upload photos to Flickr to represent what the photo is about). As you can imagine a tag such Washington can easily provides thousands of photos.
TAGgalaxy lets you enter a tag and also additional tags to drill down to a smaller manageable photos, the process showing some planets with size representing the amount of photos .
Once you are happy with your set of tags. The app then contacts Flickr to fetch the photos in to a sphere that you can manipulate in all directions to explore the photos. Click on any photos, user can see the option to go to Flickr page that photo belongs.
If the sphere can not contain all selected photos, you can use the top arrow to navigate to the next set, etc…
EarthAlbum.com: As we mentioned tag earlier, photo can carry tag describing the location where the photo is taken. EarthAlbum mashups Google Map and Flickr to basically give you pictures related to a ping pointed location on the map of the world. Click on any location, and geotagged photos appear in a strip on the top of the interface. Click one to see it larger and get a description from the photographer. Naturally, you can zoom in on the map to get more specific choices. Big cities and tourist destinations have the most photos associated with them, but click around to get a variety. You can even search for photos at specific addresses.

Weekend Art: Official Pirelli Calendar Collection
The infamous high-end Italian Automobile tire manufacturer publishes yearly some of the most artful galleries of photography.
If you click the link you’ll be taken to the Pirelli Calendar Club web site where you can view all the decades 60’s to 2000 Known in the past for featuring nude or topless shots of the world’s most desirable women, this year’s edition drops the glitz and glamour and puts each model in very artful "Japanese" glamour shots. My favorite is 2007 with “Black & White” Classic Italian.
As bonus, the display is in Flash, which allows you to artfully browser the earlier year editions too!
