Save Streaming Video With RealPlayer 11: a First Look

RealNetworks have made available the latest Beta RealPlayer 11. Arstechnica was able to have a fist hands-on experience. The new player comes with a nifty feature: the ability to download streaming video clips to your hard drive.

Arstechnica finds the install (available for Windows platform only for now) is simple and the download option is intuitive and fast.

Once installed, RealPlayer pops up a small “Download This Video” button whenever the user mouses over an embedded Flash, Windows Media Player, or Quicktime video in their web browser. In addition, a “Download video” option appears in the context-sensitive right-click menu for the embedded video object. This works with both Internet Explorer 6 and 7, as well as Firefox, but does not work—at least in this beta—for Opera.

Clicking on the context menu or the Download This Video button automatically brings up a download manager screen, which saves the stream to the directory specified in RealPlayer’s configuration.

Give it a try. As you know, the download format file is .flv, you can use our embedded Movavi Widget - located on SolSie.com’s bottom left sidebar - to convert to what ever format you like. On your PC, RealPlayer can play back the downloaded file. For Windows Mobile users, read this post.
