TheSixtyOne: Digg-Like for mp3

2 January, 2008 Posted by SolSie As Multimedia, Windows PC

thesixtyone.com is using a concept similar to Digg, which allows user to submit news and the ones with most votes will be on top. The only difference with thesixtyone is, instead of news, it is with DRM-free music. Users can vote on their favorite songs, and songs with the most votes show up on the front page.

thesixtyone is a music discovery game that rewards those who help others listen to good new music. Any artist can add their music to thesixtyone in a process that’s fast and simple.

thesixtyone has an innovative point system:

When you sign up, you get points; each time you vote up a song, you spend 5 points, but if others vote for the song and it gets popular, you earn your points back. Furthermore, you can earn free points by listening to The Rack, which consists of music that hasn’t hit the front page yet. As you earn more points, you go up in ranks. Of course if it is too complicated, you can always visit the site and discover the most voted songs. You can either listen or purchase the tunes.
